17 active COVID-19 cases reported at USU
As of Aug. 27, Utah State University has 17 active cases of COVID-19 in the USU community.
The number of cases is up two from yesterday, and both reports of COVID-19 are from students who live off-campus.
According to USU’s COVID-19 information website, active cases include everyone who has tested positive within the last three weeks. The 17 active cases include 16 students who live off-campus and one staff member.
Since USU began keeping track last spring, 101 cases of coronavirus have been reported between students, faculty and staff with the majority of cases coming form students.
USU relies on students and staff to self-report. According to the information website, individuals are encouraged to self-report if they are ill and are getting tested, waiting on test results, received a positive COVID-19 test result, have had close contact with an individual who has a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 or if they have been asked to quarantine or isolate.
