5-on-5 fight breaks out in hockey game

Utah State’s club hockey team completed the home sweep of Arizona State Friday night by shutting out the Sun Devils 2-0.

The game started out at a slower pace than Thursday’s game. However, it took a swing for the physical when an all out, five-on-five brawl occurred with less than four minutes left in the game.

Aggie defenseman Shaun Gibbons was disqualified and will have to sit out three games for fighting two Arizona State players. Forward Brian Gibbons was also disqualified along with defenseman Jordan Kerr, and both players will have to sit out one game each.

Sophomore forward Cooper Limb opened the scoring up in the second period by putting away a loose puck during a scramble in front of the Sun Devil net.

Junior defender Ty Johns scored the insurance goal from the point on the power play in the third period.
