8 ways to keep the socially distanced holiday spirit

There’s no place like home for the holidays, especially the holidays during a global pandemic. Here are eight ways to keep the holiday spirit alive while keeping yourself safe. .

  1. Drive around and look at Christmas lights

Blast your car heater, and take a drive around town. If you’re in Logan for the holidays, check out the Christmas lights on Center Street.

  1. Marathon Christmas movies

Netflix has a wide variety of holiday films. Some are good, some are great and some are horrible, but they’ll all get you in the Christmas spirit. (“The Princess Switch” and “Christmas in the Smokies” are a couple of favorites.)

  1. Make Christmas cookies or try out a new holiday recipe

Christmas cookies are a holiday classic, but consider switching it up this year. Try making latkes for Hanukkah or king cake for Three Kings Day.

  1. Blast the festive music

Or if you’re not a Christmas music fan, try Aggie Radio’s winter music playlist.

  1. Take a long winter’s nap

It’s like a nap, but Christmas-y.

  1. Study for finals

Nothing says Christmas spirit like passing your statistics final.

  1. Drink hot chocolate by a fireplace

If you don’t have a fireplace, pull this video up on your laptop and use your imagination.

  1. Plan a Zoom call with friends or family

If you’re not completely sick of Zoom calls, consider throwing a virtual holiday bash. Switch up the monotonous Zoom meetings by playing games or having a PowerPoint party.
