LETTER: AED not part of e-mail mess

Reading the April 8 article in the Utah Statesman, we were shocked and appalled to read about an e-mail attacking the character of diversity and student organization candidate Rusty Rigby. We were also greatly surprised that the Statesman associated our organization, Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED), with this slander. The first we heard of this e-mail was reading the newspaper Friday morning. The Statesman reported “the content of the e-mail did not escalate until a USU student received the information from the Alpha Epsilon Delta e-mail list … the student then replied to the entire AED e-mail list, adding information questioning Rigby’s morality.” To clarify, this e-mail was not sent by AED. It was not sent to all AED members. We did not approve of it. We do not agree with its contents. And we are sorrowed by any hurt that it caused to Rusty Rigby.
