LETTER: Students need to stop whining about parking

Jeff Rowley

To the editor:

I am writing in response to Paul Christiansen’s letter about the worsening parking situation. In his opinion page, Paul has stretched the facts and made the situation seem much worse than it actually is. He states that the time needed to find a parking space stretched from 30 minutes and then reached 75 minutes for him to find a parking space on campus. Paul, if it is taking you that long to find a parking space, may I suggest parking in the Wal-Mart parking lot and walking to campus?

My dear friends, when there is not a parking space at the front door of your classroom, there is a very large stadium parking lot that I have yet to see full. This parking lot is a 10-minute walk from campus, or if you really don’t want to walk, there is a bus that passes by at least every five minutes for the majority of the day. The next time you are circling around a parking lot like a starving vulture, drive two minutes down the hill to the other parking lot and then quit whining. We don’t want to hear it.
