USU’s most eligible bachelor
There were two big winners at the USU vs. Hawaii football game. One was the
Hawaii team; the other was Brendan Dennis.
While Hawaii went home Saturday with a 58-point lead, Dennis went home
Wednesday, Nov. 8, with a $4,000 diamond ring.
Dennis, an undeclared freshman, found out it pays off big time to go to
football games when he became the first winner of S.E. Needham Jeweler’s
annual football contest. The contest requires that a student throw a football
through a tire from 15 yards away.
“I played a lot of football. I always thought I had a pretty good arm,” Dennis
said. “I didn’t think it was that hard.”
Store owner Gene Needham said he was happy to finally be able to give the
prize away. “It’s kind of exciting. You get to the point where you think no
one can do it,” Needham said.
