USU falls to La Tech on the road Thurs.
Taking on Louisiana Tech University on Thursday at the Samuel M. Thomas Assembly Center, the Aggies faced a 62-47 defeat.
The loss put an end to an exciting three-game winning streak, and Utah State comes home with a 9-17 overall and 5-9 record in the Western Athletic Conference. The Aggies were unable to fight back from an early lag and never managed to regain ground.
Techster guard Tarkeisha Wysinger banked 13 points and 11 rebounds, one of two Techster players to gain a double-double. Attempting to counter Louisiana’s dominance, Aggie senior forward and WAC player of week, Jenny Gross, brought in 14 points, but faltered with foul trouble in the first half.
USU senior guard Jamelah Brown scored 10 points to help the cause, but the Aggies could not equal the Techsters in all-around force. Louisiana Tech evens out the season, moving to 13-13 overall, and jumps to 7-6 in the WAC.
Lagging throughout the game, Utah State found a 25-18 score in Techster favor going into the locker room. The Techsters shot a 41.4 field-goal percentage, while the Aggies shot 31.6 from the field.
Utah State action continues as Boise State University travels to Logan Thursday, March 6.
