OLRC PRESENTS THE ANNUAL FAMILY PRODUCTION IN SWASHBUCKLING FORM

A swashbuckling adventure filled with islands of mist, magical wizards, fairy tale type monsters, sword fights and a love story is how Old Lyric Repertory Company Apprentice Coordinator David Sidwell describes this summer’s family production.

“Aalmauria, the Voyage of the Dragon” by Max Bush is presented as the OLRC apprentice showcase.

“It’s a play aimed at our younger audiences,” said Sidwell. “Ages 7 or 8 and above will have a great time witnessing all the action this magical tale has to offer. The enchanting adventure maintains a Celtic twist and can be enjoyed by anyone with imagination and an ear for a great story.”

The production is presented in the Black Box Theatre (FA 224) in the Chase Fine Arts Center on the Utah State University campus. Dates and times for the production include July 21 at 4 and 7 p.m.; July 22 at 4 p.m.; July 23 at 10 a.m.; and July 24 at 4 and 7 p.m. Admission is free to everyone for general seating.

Made possible by the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation, the OLRC Apprentice Program is based on the company’s commitment to education in theatre, said Colin Johnson, producing artistic director. During OLRC‚s summer season between nine and 12 high school students are selected for apprentice positions where each student learns the life of theatre inside and out. These individuals learn every aspect of the theatre, including set construction, costume design and performance, Johnson concluded.
