OUR VIEW: Don’t stress too much over finals

Now that finals are only one week away, the annual cramming is about to commence. Students will begin to put themselves on 24-hour work periods as they reside in computer labs.

Their diets consist of Pop Tarts or granola bars, lots of sugar and gallons of caffeine. Dark circles emerge under their eyes, and hair appears more and more tousled. Their hands grow appendages that look seemingly like study guides and flash cards.

Unfortunately, this is not the best way to be. Certainly, some extra information can be gleaned from this massive rush to harvest facts and test answers. But the information just isn’t going to stick after finals are over.

The best thing students can do is to set a study schedule and learn information at a normal pace. Don’t stress too much. Test taking will only be that much harder if the traditional finals cramming takes place. Be kind to the brain. It’s already under enough stress.

Some students are already feeling regret from a lack of studying during the semester. It’s basically too late to turn back now. But good luck anyway.
