Utah State women’s tennis dropped their fourth straight match in Friday’s meeting against Northern Colorado by a final of 6-1.

The lone win for the Aggies came in No. 2 singles, where Utah State freshman Hailey Swenson defeated Tiffany Knop in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. Swenson is now 8-1 in singles play over the last nine matches with her only loss coming in Utah State’s match-up against Boise State earlier this month.

In doubles play, Swenson filled the place of the injured Bridgette Strickland alongside Brianna Harris in No. 1 doubles. Harris and Swenson were edged out by a final of 8-7 by Northern Colorado’s Tabatha Knop and Manuela Santos. Utah State was defeated by scores of 8-2 in No. 2 doubles and 8-4 in No. 3 doubles

In the singles match-ups, four Aggies played one level higher than their regular levels due to the Strickland injury. Northern Colorado’s Santos defeated USU’s Britney Watts 7-5, 6-3 in No. 3 singles. In No. 4 singles, USU’s Taylor Perry fell in straight sets to Karen Groll by a final of 7-5, 6-3. Utah State’s Marie Livingston dropped her first set to Luiza Xavier 6-4 in No. 5 singles before rebounding for a 6-3 win in the second set. Xavier was able to hold on in the third set, beating Livingston 6-1 in the final set.

The Aggies will wrap up their regular season with their two home matches this week, the first of which will take place Tuesday against Idaho State University. It will be the Aggies’ second meeting with the Bengals this season. The first meeting between the two, which took place at Idaho State, ended in a 6-1 victory for Utah State. The final regular season match will be held on Friday against Montana State University. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
