BLOTTER: Police news from the campus and community

September 19

* USU Police responded to the Merrill Library on a report of someone sleeping at one of the tables. It was discovered the individual had fallen asleep while studying for a test and did not know the library had closed.

* Logan City Police received a report of a red dodge on the east side of Aqua Tech with a male individual inside that keeps approaching customers. He has been there before and sits long periods of time.

* Norda’s Mountan outfitters reported to Logan City Police that a man left the store wearing the store shoes and left his old ones in the box at the store.

* Logan City Police received a report that a wallet was left in a shopping cart and is now missing. The wallet had four hundred dollars cash inside.

* A caller reported to Logan City Police that a car pulled along beside him full of college-age kids. one male rolled the window down and “mooned” them.

September 20

* USU Police responded to Richards Hall on a report of individuals dressed in black, wearing goggles, and shooting either paintball guns or laser guns. Upon police arrival, no one was found near Richards Hall or any surrounding area.

* Logan City Police received a report of a male driver in a Ford Explorer that was driving with his feet.

* A caller reported to Logan City Police a live music band playing in a yellow brick house. It is a constant problem house, because it is a college house.

September 21

* USU Police responded to Mountain View Tower on a report of individuals bringing alcohol into the building. The alcohol was taken out of the building and the Housing office will be contacting the individuals.

September 22

* USU Police received a report of a student in a wheelchair, being struck by a vehicle while in the crosswalk by the HPER and the Education buildings. As a result of the incident, the wheelchair was damaged and the student lost his wedding band. USU Police would appreciate any information of the driver, license plate number, vehicle description or any eyewitness accounts. You can contact the USU Police Department at 797-1939 with any information.

* A student reported to USU Police an unknown male attempted to look up her shirt while she was sleeping at a study desk on the third floor of the Merrill Library. Police are investigating the incident.

* USU Police received a report of a stolen bicycle. The bicycle was last taken from the area of Merrill Hall sometime after 4:30 p.m. on 9/19/03. The brand of the bicycle is unknown. The bicycle is marbled, teal and lavender in color with a neon yellow bottle holder

* USU Police received a report of a hit and run traffic accident in the University Center B-parking lot.

September 23

* USU Police responded to the Com-D parking lot for a report of a syringe found in the parking lot. The item was recovered and destroyed by police.

September 24

* USU Police received a report of a suspicious person carrying a garbage bag, trying to open the doors and windows on the FHD West complex. Police responded in less than two minutes. Police searched the area but were unable to locate the individual.

* A wallet was turned into USU Police that had been found in or near the Chemistry building. The owner was contacted and responded to pick up the wallet. The owner stated his wallet had been missing for nearly three weeks and that $72.00 in cash was missing.

September 25

* Police responded to the Quad and Sci-Tech Library area within five minutes for a report of a suspicious person taking pictures of women. The subject was identified and released. No further action was taken.
