LETTER: Rude students starting trend
To the editor:
I am alarmed at a trend that seems to be growing here at USU: discourtesy. I have grown tired of hearing the chit-chat going on in my classes while the professors are trying to lecture. I don’t understand why is it so difficult for some people to sit through one class period without having to talk about who broke up with who or about how amazing last night’s episode of “Heroes” was. There are many of us who want to get good grades and who are actually interested in what the professor is lecturing about. We did not pay our tuition to sit in class and listen to you ramble about your social lives. The same goes for review sessions, which are not mandatory.
If you don’t need to be there, then by all means, stay home. Please, if you feel so comfortable with the class material that you feel the need to talk about your lives throughout the class, don’t come to class. If there’s something you’re just dying to tell that person next to you, keep it for after class or leave the classroom. It’s common courtesy, something that we could use a little more of here at USU.
