Cernianska named top Aggie
Utah Statesman: What does it mean to you to win the USU Athlete of the Week award?
Zuzana Cernianska: It’s huge. It’s my first time to win Athlete of the Week. Last year, I was Co-Freshman of the Year [in the Big Sky Conference]. That was nice but for me this is better.
US: What is your major and what interested you about it?
ZC: Business administration. I want to own my own company and make money.
US: Do you plan on staying in the United States or do you plan on going back to your country?
ZC: I will go back to Czech and live there.
US: How did you end up here at Utah State? It’s a long way from the Czech Republic.
ZC: This is my second year. There is a company on the Internet that does intros and coaches just send e-mail through the Internet.
US: How do you keep in touch with your family?
ZC: I always call them twice per week and they always read articles from USU on the Internet.
US: Your sister was here last year. How is she doing?
ZC: She went to a university in Prague in the Czech Republic. For her it is better because she has two and a half more years and in the Republic she will be an engineer of economics, but here she would just have a bachelor’s degree. She is doing pretty good.
US: What is the biggest difference you notice between here and the Czech Republic?
ZC: The Czech Republic is not a religious country and Utah is very religious. Also, I am from Prague. It’s a very big city and Logan is a small city.
US: What do you like best about Logan?
ZC: The people. They are always nice to me.
US: How did you get started playing volleyball?
ZC: When I was like 8 years old, my sister started and I wanted to go, too.
