BLOTTER: Police news from the campus and community

August 22:

Police responded to a criminal mischief report in the B parking lot south of the Fine Arts Center. The parking gate arm was removed and thrown in the weeds. The arm was replaced.

Police responded to the Romney Stadium locker room for a property damage report. It was determined the damage to the locker room door was caused by the wind. The door was repaired by Facilities.

A university employee reported that some items in her office were damaged by the wind when repairmen left a window open in her office. Facilities will be advised of the extent of these damages.

August 23:

Police responded to a report of soliciting newspapers in Snow Hall. The individual was located and in the process of investigation, gave false information to police. The suspect was arrested.

Police responded to a report of an animal in the roadway on 800 East, 1000 North. Police found a dead animal in the roadway. The animal was cleared off the road and properly disposed of.

August 24:

Police took a criminal mischief report that occurred at the Valley View Tower parking lot. An individual’s car had been “egged.”

August 25:

Police responded to Widtsoe Hall for a stray cat in the building. The cat was taken to Cache Meadows.

Policed talked to solicitors in the west stadium parking lot about putting fliers on vehicles. The individuals did not have proper authorization for advertising with the fliers and were told they would have to remove them from the vehicles. They complied.

Police received a theft report involving a table and two chairs that were stolen from the sidewalk on the south side of the Biology Natural Resource building. Police are investigating.

Police responded on a repeated 911 hang up call at the ASTE building. When police arrived, they found several young children in the area. While none of the children admitted to making the calls, it appeared as if one or more of them had. There were also three adults in the area who advised the children not to partake in such activity.

August 26:

Police received a request from a student to drive her and her friend to the hospital to have a doctor check out a problem she was having with her eye. Both students were transported to Logan Regional Hospital.

Police responded to the Psi Sigma Phi fraternity house on a noise complaint. House residents informed the police that the noise was coming from a movie being shown on the HPER Field. No further action was taken.

August 27:

Police responded to the Dairy Herd Improvement Association building on a report of a loose calf. The calf was placed into a feed lot. No further action was taken.

Police responded to the HPER Building at the request of a man who said his wife was late getting home from class. She was located and everything was alright. No further action was taken.

Police responded to the Parking Terrace to pick up an abandoned cooler that was filled with alcoholic beverages. The items were destroyed.

August 28:

Police responded to the Dairy Herd Improvement Association building on a report of cattle on the road. The calves were found and put back into the fenced area.
