Alcohol screening offered Thursday National Alcohol Screening Day will be held Thursday Participants can take part in the screening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Taggart Student Center Walnut Room. Participants can complete a brief screening test to assess how much alcohol they consume, receive educational information and talk one-on-one with a health professional. Free ice cream or a bread coupon is available for all participants.

Local bands play at charity event The Chi Omega sorority is sponsoring their second annual benefit concert, Chi-O Fest, Thursday. The concert will include local musicians Lokalgrown, P.S., 13th Ave., the Jenna Land Band, and Jane Thatcher and Sarah Graves. The concert will be held in the Taggart Student Center Ballroom from 6 to 10 p.m. Admission is $3 and is donated to the Make-A-Wish foundation. Door prizes donated from local businesses will be given away to ticket holders.

Air Force program held this weekend The Air Force ROTC will hold its third annual Cadet for a Day program Saturday in the Taggart Student Center Auditorium from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. All USU students are invited to learn more about the Air Force ROTC program. Activities will include a brief overview of Air Force opportunities, careers, scholarships and benefits. Lunch and a T-shirt will be provided. International banquet features authentic food The International Student Council is sponsoring its International Banquet April 10 at 7 p.m. in the Taggart Student Center Ballroom. The banquet will feature food from 12 countries and African, Asian, South American and Polynesian dances will be performed. Tickets can be purchased at the TSC Ticket Office or the Spectrum Ticket Office. Costs for the tickets are $8 per person.

Utah State honors achievements Faculty, staff and students were honored March 31 with the Aggie Blue Pride Light for their outstanding achievements. Those honored were: Kelli Cargile Cooke, English professor for being named the e-learning adviser for USNews.com; John Takemoto, biology professor, for his award as the Utah State Outstanding Graduate Mentor for 2002; Teri Gee, a junior majoring in history, for being selected by NASA to serve as one of two Solar System Ambassadors for the state of Utah in 2002; Phillip R. Lowe, a graduate student in theater arts, for winning the Barbizon Award for Excellence in costume design, and Justin Paskett, an undergraduate majoring in public relations, for being appointed as the Hiking Representative on the Utah Recreational Trails Advisory Council by the Utah Department of Natural Resources. Every four months the university designates a Blue Pride Light Day, lighting the ‘A’ atop Old Main to recognize a few individuals for their outstanding achievements.
