ASUSU: Organizations and traditions VP

Mike Brockbrader, the single candidate for the organizations and traditions vice president, is looking for more coordination between campus organizations.

His platform, he said, focuses on bringing more emphasis to Utah State University organizations by establishing the idea of ownership and connection to USU. Brockbrader said it is common sense to return to an organization you have ownership in.

“It’s kind of the win-win situation,” he said.

Brockbrader’s second platform is to create a Web site to schedule and maintain interaction between USU organizations and clubs. He emphasized that the Internet is the cheapest and easiest way to advertise and get organizations to work together.

He also hopes to improve events such as Traditions Week by bringing in comedians, holding concerts on campus and keeping the annual fair.

Brockbrader said he’s ready to tackle the position with his desire to work.

“I always try to leave an organization or group better than when I started,” he said.

With three years of involvement (two with the organizations and traditions committee) under his belt, Brockbrader said he’s had time to think of ways to improve the role.

“My mind never shuts down of how to make things better,” he said.

Over the past two years Brockbrader has chaired events like Homecoming, Week of Welcome, the Robins Awards, Traditions Week and the Christmas tree lighting.

“I like to deal with people, and I get a lot of gratification out of pleasing people,” he said.
