LETTER: Show pride at ball games

Dear Editor,

Aggie pride. What do these words mean to you? Apparently not as much as they should judging by the pathetic crowd and lack of enthusiasm at Tuesday’s game.

Since coming to Utah State University, we have become hard-core Aggie basketball fans, much to the surprise of everyone who knows us. If two girls with next-to-no interest in sports can feel the power an amazing team of athletes can bring to a building like the Spectrum and become ignited with school pride, then what’s wrong with the rest of you?

In the two years of basketball games we have attended, we have learned Aggies play their best when the fans are into the game, and they need our support to win.

The reason our team is so hard to beat at home is because of the rowdy fans. However, rowdy does not mean brainless. As upset as we were with the lack of support from the fans, it could not compare with the anger we felt toward the person who ruined our chance for a comeback when he/she felt the need to get us a technical.

If you’re not at the game to stand and cheer for our incredibly talented team, stay home and listen on the radio, because you’re not helping. To the ticket office: Please try to reserve a section for students. And students, get on your feet.
