Utah Statesman: Why did you choose USU?

Ryan Warner: For the most part, an academic scholarship brought me here. And I’ve been here before for different events during high school and have always really liked it.

US: What is your least favorite part of USU?

Warner: I don’t like how cold it is, but not just the cold necessarily. I don’t like the fact that you can go to Salt Lake and it’s sunny and nice, but here in Logan we still have snow. That’s disappointing to me because I want to be playing soccer right now and my games are all cancelled.

US : If everyone was exactly like you, what would the world be like?

Warner: A bunch of math nerds. The world would be obsessively clean, too. I guess I’m just crazy like that.

US: Have you had any particularly embarrassing moments at USU?

Warner: I don’t get embarrassed easily, because maybe my whole life is an embarrassment. Just yesterday, I was at lunch sitting with my a couple friends and my ex-girlfriend, and one of the guys said, “Ryan, weren’t you just dating someone and you were almost engaged?” And I didn’t know what to say because she was right there. It was awkward.

US: Do you have any obscure talents or hobbies?

Warner: I do math, and that’s pretty weird. Overall, I’m a pretty normal guy, but I can rotate a toothpick around in my mouth.

US: If you had to be any animal, what would you be?

Warner: If I could be any animal, I would definitely be a zebra. They are like horses, so wouldn’t it be funny to see a zebra doing things that horses do? I think that would be pretty funny.

US: If money were no object, what would you do for a living?

Warner: I would teach high school math and coach soccer. That would be ideal.

US: Where do you see yourself in 10 years

Warner: I see myself as an actuary for an insurance company, and it would be nice to be running the company too. I definitely won’t be in Utah, so I’d like to be in the East.

US: What is your biggest pet peeve?

Warner: My biggest pet peeve is running late. I can’t be late and I hate when other people are late.

US: If you could go on tour with any band, who would you go with?

Warner: The Counting Crows. They just seem fun. I like their music and think that would be a good time.

US: If you could dye your hair any color, what would it be and why?

Warner: Black. On my mission, everyone told me I looked like Christopher Reeves in “Superman”. So everyone called me Superman and told me I needed to dye my hair so I could look like him, and I’d definitely look into it.

US: If you could go on any two-week vacation, where would you go?

Warner: I would go to Chile. I went there on my mission, and I’d really like to go back and tour the whole country. Plus, I’d be able to do whatever I want and wear whatever I want.

US: Did you do anything interesting for Spring Break?

Warner: I went to Nebraska because I had an interview for an internship, if you call that interesting. I stayed with my brother who lives out there and we looked at a bunch of church history sites.
