OUR VIEW: Don’t let our troops go it alone in Iraq

Opinions on war are varying. They run the gamut from solid opposition to “Bomb Saddam.” Is the world in harm’s way? That is something that will be told at a later date. For the time being, the United States is battling for what it describes as Iraqi freedom.

Battling.

That means that thousands of brothers, sisters, husbands and friends have shipped out to the Middle East. May they not be forgotten as they do the bidding of the government.

Regardless of one’s opinion of the validity of U.S. soldiers’ campaign halfway around the world, he should be willing to support the men in uniform. Don’t let them feel like they have no love from back home.

They put themselves in harm’s way to take on what the government sees as a threat. Soldiers are willing and able to fight for everyone else. Show them some gratitude by taking part in fund-raising efforts or by sending gift baskets. There are plenty of options available.

Just be glad someone is willing to fight what has become, whether approved of or not, our fight.
