COLUMN: Students should get involved on campus
This is just a shout out to all those Aggies who helped create history last week! Thank you so much for your vote in the ASUSU Special Election. The ASUSU Executive Council is grateful to know that we have your support when it comes to creating a more effective and efficient student government.
Now, it’s time to get the new model up and running. However, we could not have made any of these necessary changes without your vote or your belief that this new model will be for the benefit of students at Utah State University.
We appreciate the time you took out of your day to create change. It is great to work with a student body that cares about what is going on and gets involved in the process. For that reason, we encourage each of you to get involved with ASUSU. Whether it be by joining a committee or by running for office (filing deadline is March 9, 2005), there are so many ways to get out there and get your voice heard. Go for it! We need YOU and what you alone can offer!
Still questioning whether or not your voice is being heard? Well … student initiatives for the proposed tuition increase have recently been approved by President Albrecht. Good news! For all of us living on cereal and paying for gas with quarters and dimes – tuition is not going to be as high as it was projected to be! Students are highly encouraged to attend the “Truth in Tuition” hearing next Tuesday, March 8, to get the details straight from President Albrecht. The hearing will take place at noon in the Sunburst Lounge.
Reminder: Let us know if we can be of any help to you. That is what we are here for. Thank you again for your support and go Aggies!
Heidi Evans is the Academic vice president for ASUSU.
