College of Engineering Names Colby Jensen Valadictorian
Representing the College of Engineering as valedictorian is Preston, Idaho native Colby Jensen.
USU is known for its superior engineering program and being the valedictorian is an honorable award, Jensen said, but it was not an expected honor.
“It came as a bit of surprise,” Jensen said after he was awarded the honor in February. Jensen is a mechanical engineering major who said he has always been comfortable with math, one of the main components of engineering. One of the challenges of being a valedictorian is the large amount of work. “It does require a lot of time,” Jensen said of his four years at Utah State. Along with receiving the award, Jensen will also get to speak at commencement and attend a special award dinner.
Jensen said he plans to pursue his education at USU. After getting his masters, Jensen said he doesn’t have any specific career goals yet. He said he does hope that being valedictorian will help him in his future endeavors.
“It’s an award that means something,” Jensen said.
