Royally chosen – voting for Homecoming royalty

By DeLayne Locke

As the fall season roles around once again in Cache Valley and the leaves begin to change in the mountains, there is a chill in the air faintly calling us to football season. Many traditions soon follow for the Aggies here on campus, the main one being a long standing tradition that is filled with great memories and friends, it’s Homecoming time. But Homecoming wouldn’t be what it is today without the true back bone of it all which is voting for the Homecoming royalty.

– This process begins with the hopeful candidates, of junior and seniors status, who turn in a biography to a panel of judges who then pick the top five candidates that will then be put on the ballot.

– Voting for the Homecoming king and queen is located on the first and third floor of the TSC building, where juniors and seniors only participate in filling out a ballot and place it into the voting box. These boxes are only there for two weeks. Crystal Degan, ASUSU traditions chair, said in the coming year the activities committee is considering putting registering online for students to access at their own convenience.

– If picked after votes have been counted, the candidates will participate in the great activities here on campus throughout the week like the judging of the street paintings, judging Mr. USU, being in the parade and walking across the field at the football game.

So wear those colors proud this week, and support the Homecoming royalty.
