Campaign Copyright Infringement
I read the article today about how candidates often illegally campaign with altered logos. This article for seemed very familiar. I think a very similar article has appeared in the Statesman every election since I’ve been going to school here. I understand that using these logos is illegal. However, it seems that these articles must not be doing a whole lot of good, because every year it happens again. This issue is a moot point because like the article itself said, “ASUSU will not penalize candidates for this kind of infringement” and companies are unlikely to sue. I just feel that we’re making a bigger deal out of this than we need to. If we’re going to make some rules about this, then fine. But if we’re not, then let’s drop this topic for good.
