Traitors to America

Dear Editor,

Like the vast majority of Americans in the months since September 11th, I have been very happy with the rebirth of patriotism in our nation. It seems that the summer soldiers and sunshine patriots have been forced to keep quiet, to blend in with the crowd in these times when it is unpopular to speak or act negatively about the nation. However, it is apparent that this temporary respite from cowardly Anti-American rhetoric is at an end. In the past month, there have been universities condemning the war on terrorism as “racist”, and elementary schools that have banned the pledge of allegiance. These people would undermine the patriotic feelings of the American people by kicking their mother nation when she’s down. Even though they don’t mind hiding behind the protections guaranteed by the very object of their disgust, the anti-patriots will never stop their attacks. Liberals every where should be ashamed. The behavior of people like Ted Turner, (owner and founder of CNN), Tom Daschle, and others who have spoken out against the war on terrorism and American patriotism are giving those patriotic liberals a bad name. They are no better than those loyalist colonists who refused to support the American Revolution, and were condemned as traitors by such men as George Washington, James Madison, Benjamin Franklin, and Patrick Henry. Thomas Paine once said that the Summer Soldier and the Sunshine Patriot would always shrink from the service of their country. These cowards have done worse, going as far to promote the ultimate disservice to their nation, to attack the patriotism of it’s citizens. These people are not brave the brave dissenting voices that the make themselves out to be, but are the weakest of cowards. They are not hero’s of Democracy, but are villains in the heart of Americans. Not patriots, but traitor
