Feb. 15, 2002 An individual reported a person appeared to be slumped over in an idling vehicle. This person was found to be OK and was just studying for a class.

Feb. 16, 2002 USU Campus Police assisted Logan City Police with traffic control at 1200 East and 700 North for a funeral procession.

Feb. 17, 2002 Police responded to an intrusion alarm at the President’s Office in Old Main. An individual was found in the office who had forgotten to deactivate the alarm. The alarm was reset without further incident.

Feb. 18, 2002 A student reported a broken window on the north side of the Chase Fine Arts Center. Police responded and are investigating the incident.

Police responded to the west side of The Junction on a complaint that a food service truck was in the way of the construction there. The keys were found and the truck was moved out of the way.

Feb. 19, 2002 Police responded to an office in Old Main to investigate a report of a suspicious letter. Police opened the letter and found nothing dangerous or threatening inside. The recipient of the letter was notified of the letter’s content and the letter was returned to him.

Police received a delayed report of a fire at the American West Heritage Center. The employees were welding on a tractor and some grease caught fire. The flames were put out with an extinguisher. No damage was reported to the tractor. Police responded to a residence on campus on a 911 hang-up call. The individuals in the home had accidentally misdialed a phone number.

Police responded to the report of loud music being played at Reeder Hall. Police arrested an individual for two counts of disorderly conduct.

Feb. 20, 2002 USU Police assisted a Cache County Sheriff’s Deputy in finding the addresses of three USU students.

The parking gate at the A-6 parking lot was reported to have been moved out of position. Police responded to the scene and investigated for damage. No permanent damage was found.

Police responded to the Natural Resources Building on a fire alarm. The cause of the alarm was a broken water line, resulting from the steam tunnel digging. The leak was repaired and the alarm reset.

Police responded to The Junction on a natural gas leak. The crew digging on the west side of the building had opened a gas line and had not completely shut the gas off at the meter. The problem was corrected and police cleared the area.

Feb. 21, 2002 Police responded to the Engineering Laboratory Building, Room 104 on a complaint of the smell of smoke. A light ballast was determined to be the possible cause, and two fluorescent lights were replaced.

An individual reported nearly being hit by a paint ball. Police are investigating the incident.
