OUR VIEW: Students should attend women’s basketball games

Returning to the hardwood after a 16-year absence, the women’s basketball team ended its 2003-04 season 5-22. The team last year was 5-13 in the Big West conference, losing to Long Beach in the opening round of the tournament.

The women returned this year with experience – and it has made the difference in their season so far. They are 9-7 on the season and 4-3 in Big West; the women hold the same record as the men in Big West games. Coming off a big overtime win to UC Riverside on Saturday, the women enter this weekend with a lot of momentum.

The best way for the women to keep their streak alive and represent USU is if students and community members get to the game. These games are exciting and full of action; you can see an amazing game of ball if you show up. By attending the game you will be representing them and showing them you appreciate what they are doing.

Bring a friend! Show up on Thursday night at the Spectrum at 7 p.m. with a friend or two. Students can get in with an ID card and those worried about getting tickets, check out Lee’s MarketPlace. Lee’s has coupons on the bags for free admission to either a gymnastics meet or the women’s game.

There is an amazing group of student athletes who need some support and need the exciting atmosphere that the Spectrum is known for. Please show up and check out the game, they will appreciate your attendance and support.
