Women Ags set for Lobo Shootout

Andrea Edmunds

The Utah State women’s basketball team heads to the University of New Mexico this weekend to play in the Southwest Airlines Lobo Shootout on Friday and Saturday.

The Ags will face San Diego State (3-4) Friday at 6 p.m. in the first round of play.

Depending on who wins their games, the Ags will face either New Mexico or Bowling Green on Saturday for the second round.

Head coach Raegan Pebley said her team is excited to play against these teams.

She also said she feels these teams are some of the toughest competition the Ags will see this season. Each, she said, has a strong basketball tradition.

“All three teams are probably the best in their conference,” she said. “This is an opportunity for us to find out if we can play with these kinds of teams.”

Pebley added the team is excited to play in the tournament because they are “ready for the challenge,” and looking to continue to improve.

After the difficulty the Ags had bringing down rebounds against Air Force, Pebley said the Ags need to work on rebounding consistently.

She also said she would like to see the team bring more balance to the offense – getting more players to step up and score.

After this weekend the Aggies return home to face the Idaho State Vandals on Dec. 20 at 1 p.m. in the Spectrum.
