Borel to get first start
In an effort to mix things up, USU head football coach Brent Guy named sophomore quarterback Diondre Borel the starter against Idaho.
Senior quarterback Sean Setzer has started the first three games, but each game’s first drive has been a three-and-out.
“We are going to put Diondre out there and see if he can get us started,” Guy said. “He is right now our best runner, so hopefully that will help the running game as a whole.”
USU’s rushing offense ranks 114th the country at 75.33 yards per outing.
Setzer and Borel have shared playing time in each game. Borel, however, has earned superiority in playing time. He has taken 54 snaps, while Setzer is at 37; Borel has three touchdown passes and Setzer has one.
Aggie senior wide receiver Otis Nelson was asked after the loss to Utah if a two-quarterback system is frustrating for him.
“I don’t really know what’s going on there at all,” Nelson said. “I just kind of go in and play. I’m sure someone is getting frustrated out there. I don’t know. I get to the huddle and whoever is in there, I’m going to run with them.”
The Aggie passing game ranks 90th in the nation with 170 yards per game.
