OUR VIEW: We know where you go to school
more students don their sweatshirts, it makes any blue-blooded Aggie feel good to see USU brazen across the chest of their fellow students.
Wearing Utah State gear is a great way to support the school and stay warm at the same time. It brings us together as a campus to all wear the same thing, or at least the same logo.
However, some students choose to support another school with their choice of attire. While it’s certainly your right to wear what ever you want, think about a few things before you throw on something from an in-state rival.
* Money spent on Utah State apparel is much more likely to help Utah State.
*You’re not fooling anyone. We can see you in class; we know where you go to school.
* You’re cheating yourself out of the half the fun of going to school here.
* There are enough people out there saying that everyone at USU is only here because we couldn’t get into BYU. Wearing a Cougars hat isn’t helping with that image.
But hey, school pride and rivalry aren’t all that college is about. Take, for instance, the art show in the Tippets gallery, which has brought works of art from students attending other Utah colleges. That’s just one of the many ways we can celebrate and support our fellow Utah schools without so blatantly displaying that pride for our rivals.
This gives us a chance to see something more than just the typical three or four letters emblazoned across sweaters and see what our peers have to show for their schooling besides just their name.
