Police Blotter: News from the campus and commnity

Jan. 30

* USU Police responded to Summit Hall at the request of Logan City Police who had two male individuals detained in the area for shooting illegal fireworks. The individuals were given a warning and the fireworks were taken.

Jan. 31

* USU Police made contact with an individual in the Space Dynamics Lab parking lot who had two large dogs off the leash. Police determined the individual was not an employee and had no reason to be there. He was asked to leave and warned not to return.

* USU Police responded to the Stan Laub Training Center on a medical assist. An individual in a soccer tournament was injured and transported to Logan Regional Hospital.

* Two people were issued citations for an alcohol offense in the Spectrum during the basketball game against Long Beach State.

* An individual who stole a small backpack and ran from police was caught and arrested.

Feb. 2

* USU Police responded to an animal problem. An individual found a dog walking down the street that looked injured. The dog was transported to the animal hospital.

Feb. 3

* An individual called USU Police with a report of someone siphoning gas out of her vehicle while it was parked on campus. Police are investigating.

* USU Police responded to an intrusion alarm at the Student Health Center. Upon police arrival, it was discovered that a meeting was taking place and someone exiting the building set the alarm off. The alarm was reset.

* USU Police responded to Merrill Hall on a report of an animal problem. A stray black lab dog was picked up and taken to Cache Meadows.

* USU Police and Logan City Paramedics responded to a medical assist at the Taggart Student Center. A female was transported by ambulance to Logan Regional Hospital for further evaluation and care.

Feb. 4

* USU Police were called to the Edith Bowen area on a report of an unattended vehicle with the engine running and small children inside that were not seatbelted. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.

Feb. 5

* USU Police responded to the Engineering Building on a report that an individual who had been studying in the building had not returned home. Before police could locate the individual, he returned to his home. No further action was taken.

*USU Police and Fire Marshals responded to the Engineering Building for a fire alarm. Welders working in the basement accidently set off the alarm. The alarm was reset.

*USU Police assisted a student in searching for his parked vehicle. The vehicle was found and no further action was taken.
