LETTER: Entire nation is the victim
Editor,
The purpose of this letter is to refute a statement made in a letter of Jan. 21, in which the writer proffered the idea that “homosexuality doesn’t affect anybody besides homosexuals.”
Homosexuality directly and negatively affects the social and moral fabric of the society in which it is practiced. The most disconcerting effect of homosexuality on America today is the way in which it erodes the concept and structure of marriage and family. The family is the basic unit upon which society is built. Efforts to redefine marriage as anything other than a union between a man and a woman consistently damage this basic foundational unit, weakening both individuals and families, leaving the structure of this nation frighteningly unstable.
It is my contention, then, that homosexuality is not a victimless state. Rather, it victimizes an entire nation.
