After a tie against Weber State University on Monday, the Utah State University women’s soccer team goes into the weekend with two games; Idaho State University today at 4 p.m., and the University of Wyoming on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both games will be played on USU’s Tower Field.

With their season record now at 1-2-1, the Aggies hope to have a winning weekend. ISU comes into the weekend with a 2-0-1 record with wins against Central Washington University and Youngstown State University and a tie against the Air Force Academy. USU and ISU have met only twice, both teams with one win apiece. Idaho currently holds the most recent win.

Wyoming will enter Sunday’s game with a season record of 1-2-1, notching its only win against Southwestern Texas State University, its first opponent of the season.

In light of the recent tragedy at Wyoming – the tragic deaths of eight Wyoming cross country runners in an automobile accident – the Cowgirls’ game play has been fairly limited.

Head coach Jen Kennedy Croft said, “They played us well in the spring, they have a good defense, and a fairly good keeper, so I think it’ll be a good game.”

If the Aggies defeat both Idaho State and Wyoming, it will be the first time ever the Aggies have had a winning record after the first six games of the season.

Now, tied for the top spot for points are sophomore Amber Tracy and senior Becky Ward. Tracy has posted goals against Northwestern University and the University of Nevada-Reno, while Ward has knocked in goals against Nevada and Weber State.

After this weekend’s games, the women’s soccer team will travel to Northern Arizona University on Sept. 30.
