Jan. 16

Utah State University Campus Police responded to a fire alarm at Rich Hall. The alarm was set off by a student using a hair dryer.

A student reported that he and his wife were nearly hit by a golf cart while walking on the sidewalk. The cart was driven by a university employee.

Jan. 17

Campus police received a report of male who was late arriving at his destination. Police were unable to locate the individual in the campus area.

Campus police responded to a fire alarm at Summit Hall caused by another hair dryer being used too close to a smoke alarm.

Ushers were assisted by campus police with a disorderly individual trying to enter the Spectrum during a basketball game. The individual was asked to leave the game and was escorted out.

Jan. 18

Campus police responded to a fire alarm at Summit Hall that was activated by a hot clothing iron that had snowboard wax on it.

Campus police responded to a water leak in the Fieldhouse that was traced back to a drinking fountain.

Jan. 19

Campus police responded to a fire alarm at Wasatch Hall that was caused by food burning on the stove.

Jan. 20

Campus police responded on a report of an individual passing out in class. When they arrived the individual was alert, coherent, said there were no problems.

An individual reported to campus police a suspicious burning odor in the Family Life Building. The source of this odor was not determined and had dissipated, however, it may have been related to the lights going out in Room 109.

Campus police responded to a report of someone receiving unwanted e-mails. Police are investigating.

It was reported to campus police by the parking office that there was a maroon Ford Probe driving on the sidewalks that run past the University Inn to the Merrill Library. Police responded to the area and found no vehicles driving on the sidewalks.

A student reported to campus police that she was being followed around by another student. Police advised her of the action she needed to take and will assist her further with this person if needed.

Jan. 21

A student reported to campus police being assaulted in an apartment on campus. One adult male was arrested and booked into the Cache County Jail for charges of assault, theft and assault on a police officer.

Campus police received a report of a camera that had been taken out of the Chase Fine Arts Center from the photo lab. The photo department later called, stating the camera had been misplaced and found, not stolen. No further police action was taken.

Campus police responded to the USU trailer court for a complaint of a dog being hurt. Police checked the area and did not find any problems.
