LETTER: Your kids may ruin the world

Editor,

Who really is the victim if people can no longer choose a partner, whom they love, to marry? If people think that homosexuality is the downfall of our nation, I would ask them to consider that maybe their religion is the downfall of our physical world. Morality will not stand a chance if we do not stop breeding to such an extent that our ecosystem can no longer sustain human life. I don’t care what gays do as long as they are respectful of others. In fact, I support gay rights for marriage because at least they are not going to have 12 children who all drive SUVs and continue polluting our air.

Gays, on the other hand, will adopt children that no one else wants, and in doing so relieve a huge burden on our social welfare system. Conservatives who claim that the Bible as their source for moral values have missed the boat where God told them to take care of the planet.

So what is the moral fabric of our society? I thought it was life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We are a country based on acceptance, not judgment. Let gays marry and let people who think that there is a god believe what they want. But if you want to really judge something for what it’s worth, ask what it is actually contributing to the common good. I see gays as having the ability to add progressively to our society. I fail to see what good a dozen screaming brats in a Suburban are giving to this world.
