LETTER: Republican is not only party
Editor,
I was not so much a fan of Spencer Lloyd’s recent article regarding the Republican Party and how it rules. For those of you who did not have a chance to read this fine literary work, here’s a summary. Basically, it said that the Democratic Party equals a bad party. Therefore you should join the College Republican club. First off, let me say that that was one of the best product placement campaigns ever. I could hardly even tell that it was an advertisement. Seriously though, my favorite part was the strong argument that lack of representation of the Democratic Party in the ultra-conservative state of Utah makes them a national failure as a party. This is a very strong argument. It turns out that there is only one Democratic man willing to waste some money trying to lose the governorship of Utah. Oh, before I forget, I feel that those College Democrats should also receive some equal opportunity advertisement, so I feel that I need to advertise for them right now.
According to the A-Station club’s page, those College Democrats meet Wednesday, from 6 to 7 p.m. in Old Main, Room 326. If you need more information, contact a College Democrat of your choice.
Now that I think of it, maybe I should join those College Republicans. Then I could vote for the most liberal Republican candidate of the bunch. Then maybe we’d end up with a decent governor. Or maybe, since it was stressed that the Democratic Party does not have multiple choices for governor, I should announce my bid for the gubernatorial candidacy. Oh, by the way, you might have to write me in on the ballot, as I bet they will probably leave me off of it. But back to those Republican candidates, you’d be hard-pressed to find better candidates; I mean who wouldn’t want a businessman as the governor of Utah? Those seem to be all the choices the Republican Party is giving us. And if you don’t love big business, what kind of American are you? (End sarcasm.)
