LETTER: Thanks for food bank donations
Editor,
In a management class this semester we were divided into groups and instructed to find a community need. We came upon some interesting statistics about hunger in Utah, including Cache Valley. We decided to plan a food drive. More specifically, a trick-or-treat food drive. Despite poor weather we consider it a great success as 6,927 food items were collected, most of which went to the Cache Valley Food Pantry. Also, most people said they had fun as they were out serving and one mother and her children said they were starting a family tradition with it.
We would like to thank the following people and organizations for all the help they gave: STEP, the Val R. Christensen Service Center, Albertson’s, Information Alliance, USU Facilities, STAB and the Howl organizers, Aggie Shuttle, USU Athletics, the USU Business Council, Pi Kappa Alpha, Theta Nu Xi, USU Card and Ticket Office, Connections, the social work club, Circle K, LDSSA, and 4-H.
We would especially like to thank all the volunteers who braved the snow and cold to collect the cans, and the community members who donated their food items. Also, it is quite possible that we missed some households that were waiting and willing to help us out. We encourage you to still donate whatever you can to the food bank.
