The Utah State University women’s basketball team went 1-2 and feels great about hzow they played in the tournament hosted by BYU-Idaho. Head Coach Chalyce Stevens said.

Although the Aggies played without four key players in the tournament last weekend, the remaining players held their own and played some great basketball, Stevens said.

In their second game the Aggies played Treasure Valley Community College, a team they played three times last year and never won.

The Aggies were led by center Amy Fuller to a 93-64 victory over TVCC.

Fuller finished the game by going 12 for 15 from the field with 31 point and picking up 12 rebounds.

“She just couldn’t miss,” Stevens said.

At the end of the game the Aggies also had four other players in double figures.

“We just had a hard time missing any shots,” Stevens said. “It felt very good. We needed that win.”

The day before they played TVCC the Aggies played the host team BYU-Idaho in their first game of the tournament.

The Aggies had the same problem this game against BYU-Idaho they had in their first meeting.

The Aggies lost the game in the first half, after getting so far behind it was impossible to come back.

But the team didn’t give up, in the last six minutes of the game the Aggies held BYU-Idaho to only three points by playing excellent defense, Stevens said.

Kathrine Symms led with eight rebounds.

Also leading the Aggies was Alicia Carrol, who had a team high of 17 points.

The Aggies lost 91-68 to Northern Idaho College, allowing NIC to get 10 three-pointers, in the final game Saturday.

“They’re an okay team, but they’re a beatable team,” Stevens said.

The leading scorer for the Aggies in the NIC game was point guard Tara Sorensen who scored 18 points and went 9-11 at the free-throw line.

“We accomplished our goals and came away feeling pretty good,” Stevens said.
