Aggie Golfers Finish In Eighth Place At WAC Championship

      HENDERSON, Nev. ­ Utah State¹s men¹s golf team finished in eighth-place at the Club Glove Western Athletic Conference Championship held here at the Rio Secco Golf Club with a three-day total of 910 (299-293-318).
     New Mexico State won its third-straight WAC title with a 13-under 851 (283-274-294), while Nevada finished second with a 6-under 858 (281-280-297).  San Jose State was third with a 4-under 860 (287-278-295), while Idaho was fourth with an 11-over 875 (290-285-300), Louisiana Tech was fifth with a 12-over 876 (293-287-296), Fresno State was sixth with a 14-over 878 (288-282-308), Boise State was seventh with a 40-over 904 (301-2893-14), USU placed eighth with a 46-over 910 (299-293-318) and Hawai¹i finished in ninth-place with a 54-over 918 (302-298-318).
      New Mexico State¹s Timothy Madigan won the individual title with a 14-under 202 (64-68-70), 10 strokes ahead of second-place.  Nevada¹s Scott Smith (67-69-76) and San Jose State¹s Mark Hubbard (69-70-73) tied for second with scores of 4-under 212, while NMSU¹s Justin Shin (71-69-73), UNR¹s Ryan Hallisey (72-65-76) and San Jose State¹s Matt Hovan (71-68-74) all tied for fourth with 3-under 213¹s
.      Junior Tyson McFarland (Rexburg, Idaho) led Utah State during the final 18 holes and shot a 3-over 75 to finish tied for 25th with an 8-over 224 (76-73-75). Junior Chanse Godderidge (Smithfield, Utah) finished in 30th-place with a 12-over 228 (76-72-80), while junior Benjamin Schilleman (Layton, Utah) tied for 34th with a 14-over 230 (70-77-83).  Senior Thad Truman (Blackfoot, Idaho) tied for 38th overall with a 17-over 233 (79-72-82), and freshman Tanner Higham (Shelley, Idaho) finished 42nd with an 18-over 234 (77-76-81). 
    The 2010 WAC Championship concludes the spring season for Utah State.
