H20 – drink it
Dihydrogen Monoxide. Don’t be confused by the name of this beneficial fluid, it is H2O or simply water.
Health experts recommend individuals should drink eight, 8-ounce glasses of water each day. This originates from the formula found in sports nutritionist, Myra Michael’s article, “Do you have a drinking problem?” which states to start with an individual’s weight in pounds and drink one ounce of water daily for every two pounds of bodyweight. For example, she said if you weigh 200 pounds, divide by two to reach 100, indicating that you should drink 100 ounces of water daily.
There are many benefits to following this plan and drinking the recommended amount of water. According to medicinenet.com it will enhance fat loss, combat ailments, reduce hunger, make an individual look younger by hydrating the skin and increase metabolism. The Web site said drinking water will also boost energy levels, reduce water retention, alleviate some headaches and help reduce blood pressure.
Dry and hot climates also require individuals to drink more water. Although living in Logan is not a hot climate, students need to remember it is a very dry and low humidity environment.
When individuals exercise they should drink water before, during and after the work-out. However, it is possible to drink too much water in this situation. Healthdiaries.com said the body may deplete electrolytes and this is when sports drinks are recommended, but not soda pop.
