Bus collides with motorcycle

A USU student walked away with no major injuries from a motorcycle accident involving a Cache Valley Transit District bus at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The motorcyclist, who identified himself as Trey Berrett, a junior in the professional pilot program at USU, appeared to have minor lacerations on his elbows. Berrett refused medical assistance, according to Logan Police Lt. Brad Franke.

Franke said the bus was traveling southbound on 800 East in Logan and began a left turn onto 900 North, through the motorcycle’s path. Berrett said he was unable to brake sufficiently to avoid collision with the bus. Berrett jumped off the motorcycle and slid on his elbows, according to Franke.

The bus driver was issued a citation for failure to yield on a left turn, Franke said.

“We ask people to really be cautious for motorcycles,” Franke said. “It’s just another example of why it’s so important to watch closely for motorcycles.”

Officers stopped traffic on 800 East as the motorcycle was towed and debris was cleared.
