Reduce, reuse, recycle and rock on
The Recycling Club presented their third annual Reduce, Reuse, and Rock concert Thursday night at the TSC Auditorium.
The Concert, done in collaboration with Natural Resources Week and the USU Cycling Club, featured four bands, Dah, Julia Mecham, Tanner Lex Jones and Views Like You with all proceeds going to benefit Aggie Recycling, according to Recycling Club President Ashley Walker Workman.
Workman said, “The money will not only go to benefit Aggie recycling but also to buy blue recycling bins for campus, and club T-shirts to promote recycling.”
Opening band, Dah, a mix of fun folk and traditional blue grass kept the show lively and encouraged audience participation including inviting a member to play tambourine with a traditional Russian folk song, played by their fiddler Ryan Campbell.
Julia Mecham, junior in guitar education, played a solo set with her guitar and voice, entertaining the audience with a mixture of Latin, jazz sounding folk songs she had written.
Tanner Lex Jones and Views Like You were the final two acts of the night.
With their Ska style music and dance quality about their music, Views Like You seemed to be crowd pleases. This was their third year playing the Reduce, Reuse, and Rock show, bringing back their traditional anthem for the show “The Recycling Song.” Lead Singer Devin Felix encouraged audience members to recycle numerous times throughout the show.
According to information provided by the Recycling Club, outside of doing the Reduce, Reuse, and Rock show, the club also participates in America Recycles Day, Earth Day and are frequent volunteers at the USU Recycling Center.
Aggie Recyclers aims to “promote recycling, sustainability awareness, serve the student body and community through educational and service activities as well was improve the overall environment of the USU campus,” according to information provided by the Recycling Club.
