Junior College Point Guard Signs With Utah State

Utah State’s head men’s basketball coach Stew Morrill announced Wednesday the signing of Everett Morgan to a national letter of intent to compete for the Aggies beginning in the 2005-06 season. The 6-2, 185-pound guard recently completed his sophomore season at Los Angeles City College and will have two years of eligibility with Utah State.

As a sophomore at Los Angeles City College, Morgan earned honorable mention all-South Coast Conference honors as he helped the Bruins record a 27-4 record as they advanced to the regional finals of the state tournament. During the year, he averaged just under nine points and six assists per game.

“Everett is a nice addition to our basketball team,” said Morrill. “He has true point guard skills, is very solid in his approach to the game, and is anxious to prove he can perform at the Division I level. Everett is a quality young man who is very coachable and he will be a dependable person on and off the court. We are delighted that he is joining our Aggie family.”

“Everett is an outstanding team player and a very good open shooter,” said Los Angeles City College head coach Michael Miller. “He is used to running a half-court offense, which fits into coach Morrill’s system well, and will do whatever is asked of him.”

As a senior at Laurinburg Prep in Laurinburg, N.C., Morgan earned first-team all-conference honors as he averaged approximately 15 points, seven assists and five rebounds per game in leading his team to a 28-1 record and a state championship.
