LETTER: Buying books can be cheaper

People around here just tend to stroll into the bookstore and print off their book lists (how easy!) and proceed to buy everything on the list.  Here’s a few tips for freshmen and a reminder for the rest of us:

– Used saves. Used saves more online.

– Professors often don’t even assign homework from the text, making it practically useless. It’s           called the Internet. Lots of good information there. Ask someone who’s taken the class, and take the time to check out the book itself before you make a purchase.

– International editions cost pennies-on-the-dollar compared to the price that the Bookstore charges. Just make sure that the content really is the same (and know that the Bookstore won’t take it come buyback time).

Six hundred dollars is too much for books, stop paying it. Let McGraw Hill rip other people off.
