Election to be held for ASUSU College of Education senator
Students in the College of Education and Human Services may vote during a special election Tuesday and Wednesday for next year’s Education senator.
Because the only candidate running during regular elections dropped out before polls closed two weeks ago, the application deadline for the ASUSU position was extended to last Thursday.
Five students, all junior in the college, filed to campaign: Stacy Brown, Trent Duffey, Meagan Duffy, Andrea Holmquist and Lindsey Jewell.
* Brown is a speech language pathology major from Layton, Utah. Some goals include creating new college traditions with activities and increasing scholarship and research opportunities and information.
* Duffey is a secondary education and social studies major from St. Maries, Idaho. His goals include enhancing Education Week, increasing the number of ambassadors from departments and increasing the caliber of the college’s government.
* Duffy is an elementary education major from Layton, Utah. Some of her goals include improving Education council, student and club communication, increasing partnership with freshman groups and increasing participation within the college.
* Holmquist is an elementary education major from Twin Falls, Idaho. She wants to advocate the departmental honors programs, improve student representation at department meetings and implement adviser evaluations.
* Jewell is family, consumer and human development major from Sandy, Utah. She wants to unite the college, education students of how the Education senator can help them, be available for student concerns and make Education Week more interactive among departments.
Polls will be open from 8 a.m. Tuesday until 4 p.m. Wednesday. There will be a plurality voting method with two sections. Voters should vote for a first and second choice. The winner’s name will be posted on the door of TSC 326 at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
