Community invited to Tomato Fest

Utah State University students can participate in the first-ever Tomato Fest tomato contest Sept. 7 at the Cache Valley Gardener’s Market.

Prizes will be given in eight different categories including most colorful and best flavo.

Two tomatoes per entry are allowed and should be brought to the judging table by 9:30 a.m. Judging starts at 10:30 a.m.

Activities will take place from 8 a.m. to noon behind Tony Roma’s restaurant at 100 S. Main St. in Logan.

Food drive to be held for Institute

Over 400 student leaders from the Institute Leadership Council at Utah State University will be collecting food donations from the Logan City area on Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

All Cache Valley residents are invited to participate in this event, with proceeds benefiting the Cache Community Food Pantry.

Participants are asked to leave their donations in a visible location on their front porches. For those living outside Logan, donations will also be collected at the Logan Tabernacle parking lot.

Theater tryouts soon

Auditions will be held Sept. 7 for students and members of the community interested in performing in 2002-2003 Utah State Theater mainstage productions.

Audition times begin at 9 a.m. for theater majors only and 10 a.m. for all others.

Productions for this season include “To Kill a Mockingbird,” “Taming of the Shrew,” and “The Miss Firecracker Contest.”

Individuals are required to contact the Utah State Theater main office at 797-3046 to reserve a slot.

Noel-Levitz rep to speak at USU

The community is invited to attend a presentation on enrollment management for Utah State University Sept. 10.

Kent Hopkins, associate vice president of Noel-Levitz, will be the main speaker.

A question and answer session with the dean’s council will be held Sept.9 1:30-2 p.m. in Champ Hall, Old Main. Another will be held with faculty senate Sept. 9, 3 to 4 p.m. in the Eccles Conference Center.

Busing concerns can be voiced

Student and community input is needed.

In conjunction with the LTD and CVTD, the Aggie Shuttle is hosting a series of town meetings to determine concern over transportation in Cache Valley.

The first of these meetings will be Sept. 9 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in Hyrum.

The second meeting will take place Sept. 9 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Smithfield.

There will be a meeting Sept. 10 in the Taggart Student Center in the West Colony Room from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. there will be another meeting in the Logan City Justice Building, also Sept. 10.

Swing Team to hold tryouts Sat.

Students interested in trying out for the Utah State University Big Band Swing Team can do so Saturday at 9 a.m.

Tryouts will be held at Club Skyline, located at 339 N. Main St.
