Police Blotter for Sept. 4

Aug. 23, 2002 Police responded to a Logan address to assist a Logan City Animal Control officer capture a loose lamb. USU Research Farm employees were asked to help identify the lamb and return it to its owner.

Police investigated a complaint of possible inappropriate behavior of a University employee. The complaint proved to be unfounded and no further action will be taken by police.

Police responded to the computer lab at the University Reserve on an intrusion alarm. This alarm was caused by one of the lab consultants playing a joke on a co-worker. This matter has been reported to the individual’s supervisor.

Police impounded two skateboards from some individuals seen doing tricks on campus. The individuals will be allowed to reclaim their boards after paying a $25 fine.

Aug. 24, 2002 Police received a report of a vehicle that drove off the sidewalk and almost hit another vehicle. Police are investigating the incident.

Aug. 25, 2002 Police responded to Hillcrest Elementary to help Logan City Police with a suspicious incident. Four individuals were found on the roof of the building.

Aug. 26, 2002 Police responded to an accident at 690 N. Champ Drive. A bus hit a cement pillar as it made the turn around on Champ Drive. There were no injuries reported.

A bookstore employee talked with police about students crossing the truck loading dock. As the trucks are backing up, they continue to come close to hitting pedestrians. Police are looking into a way to solve the problem.

Police responded to a parking problem in the terrace. A vehicle had rolled out of its parking spot. Police pushed the car back into place and made sure it would not move. No further action was taken.

Police responded to a noise complaint that the amphitheater on Old Main Hill was too loud. The music finished up shortly after the complaint. No further action was taken by police.

Aug. 27, 2002 Police are investigating a suspicious letter received by the USU physics department. The envelope said “Anthrax Free.” No harmful substances were found in the letter. Police assisted Provo police with a fraud case. Provo police requested assistance in locating an individual on campus who may be a victim of check fraud. The investigation is on-going.

An individual reported to police that she lost her white, Pooh-Bear coin purse in the Merrill Library.

Police received a report of a trombone that had been taken from the music department and was later found in a pawn shop in Salt Lake City.

Aug. 28, 2002

Police received a report of a sex offense that took place at Merrill Hall.

Aug. 29, 2002 A USU employee reported to police that he lost a set of USU master keys about two months ago.
