OLRC ENTERS THE HOME STRETCH!

Thursday, July 25, marks the beginning of the end for the Old Lyric Repertory Company‚s 36th season. Concluding Aug. 3, the theatre company has only 10 more performances before the doors to the Caine Lyric Theatre close on another summer.

The week of Monday, July 22, through Saturday, July 27, provides a peek at three of the OLRC‚s four shows.

“The Rivals”” begins the home stretch on Thursday, July 25, with an evening performance at 8 p.m. The 18th century romantic comedy, complete with Mrs. Malaprop and her “proper” language, evokes a look at the humorous, illogical behavior love can induce. “The Rivals” closes with one more staging Aug. 2.

On Friday, July 26, “Dial ŒM‚ for Murder” brings the renowned Hitchcock movie to life. The thriller‚s last performance takes place on Saturday, Aug. 3, with both a matinee and evening performance (2 p.m. and 8 p.m.).

“Dial ‘M’‚ for marvelous and then dial the USU box office for your tickets to Dial ‘M’ for Murder,” said theater critic Bruce Ackerman in his “Herald Journal” review.

Then, on Saturday, July 27, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. the musical “Nunsense” blesses the Caine Lyric Theatre with its week-ending performances. The heavenly group‚s final staging of “Nunsense” takes place Wednesday, July 31.

And don‚t forget about the British farce “One for the Pot!” Your last chance for this production is Aug. 1.

According to the “Herald Journal,” “One for the Pot” is “a bubbling British cauldron of hysterical one-liners, sensational sight-gags and colorful characters. If you‚re looking for some gold at the end of a sullied entertainment rainbow, this ŒPot‚ is an excellent fit”

“A hilarious comedy that‚s fun for the whole family, age 8-80,” said the “Deseret News.”
