UTAH STATE BOOKSTORE CELEBRATES GRAND RE-OPENING

As the new school year fast approaches, Utah State University students will be thinking about their textbook purchases. The newly remodeled University Bookstore hopes to ease the transition for students as they come from summer break to fall frenzy.

The bookstore will celebrate its new look with a grand re-opening celebration Wednesday, Aug. 14 at noon in the basement of the Taggart Student Center on the university campus. David Hansen, director of the bookstore and Vice President for Administrative Services Fred Hunsaker will speak at the ceremony, and the Cache Chamber of Commerce will be on hand for the ribbon cutting. An open house follows and several items in the store will be specially priced for the grand opening celebration. The public is welcome and everyone is invited.

“The new store was built to better serve our customers,” said Hansen. “Our bookstore is a self-funded auxiliary of the university, and we have been saving for years to remodel. We are happy to finally announce that the first phase of the project is complete.”

Improvements to the facility include more space, the addition of the university bulk office supply business, a new office products ordering window that is readily accessible and the move of the Computer Solutions department to the front of the store.

“The new store will be user friendly,” said Justin Smart, bookstore employee and senior at Utah State. “Students buying books will now wait in one line that feeds into 16 new registers. This will create faster lines and friendlier service.”

Serving the needs of more than 25,000 students and 6,500 employees, the store sells textbooks, Aggie apparel, unique gifts, office and school supplies, general reading books, computers and computer accessories. The National Association of College Stores ranks the Utah State Bookstore as the 45th largest in volume in the nation.
