Earth Day needs a story
Dear Editor,
I picked up a copy of The Statesman on Wednesday and was very disappointed.
This addition was printed soon after the well-planned Earth Day activities. Unfortunately, all the effort and planning put into commemorating Earth Day received pitiful coverage by The Statesman.
I appreciate the picture in The Statesman of the recycling center’s display; nevertheless, I was upset to learn after a day of environmental awareness, The Statesman would choose to run an article about four-wheel-drive motorized recreation rather than a story related to Earth Day.
I understand there is a lot of enthusiasm for this form of recreation in Cache Valley. However, the pollution and destruction associated with off-road recreation vehicles undermines the values promoted on Earth Day. Running the four-wheel-drive article right after Earth Day was tacky and poorly timed.
