Ag women drop ninth straight

Saturday was just one of a long line of disappointments for the Utah State Women’s basketball team as they lost to Nevada 64-54.

The loss brings the Aggies to a nine game losing steak. They are now 1-14 overall and 0-5 in the Western Athletic Conference. They shot 29.6 percent from the field, to Nevada’s 37.7.

“We keep turning the ball over at critical times,” said USU forward Brittany Hagen, junior, in a postgame radio interview. “We are not doing the things we need to do to get a win.”

The team was in the lead with five minutes left in the game after a basket by junior guard Camille Brox.

They were then outscored by Nevada 16-4 for the remainder of the time. Brox helped the team with six points and played for 20 minutes.

The top Utah State scorer was sophomore guard Taylor Richards, the only Aggie in double figures with 10 points. Richards was on the court for 35 minutes.

Freshman forward Lindsey Freeze also added nine points and game high of nine rebounds. She played for 33 minutes.

The team, on a four-game road trip, will stop at Hawaii on Thursday and return home Feb. 2 to take on New Mexico State.
